There is a long list of stories and beliefs in the public about the pilgrimage on the Rajnandgaon-Kawardha road, 66 km from the district headquarters. The Narmada temple built in the Maratha period has Kalchuri carpets, statues of gods and goddesses installed in an orderly manner.The uninterrupted hot stream of Maa Narmada emerges from the tank. After visiting the Narmada, devotees enjoy the natural sights of these tourist places.The ascetic Rukkadha Swami Narmada, who lived in Khairagarh in the princely state, used to go to Amarkantak daily for bathing. Impressed by Baba’s devotion, mother Narmada gave blessings to Baba that I will appear in your abode in a continuous manner. According to the story, reaching near Narmada village-Khaira located in Amarkantak as an ordinary woman, she approached a shepherd and asked which village it was. After shepherding the shepherd, the mother accidentally descended into the hot spot as a hot stream and was established as a goddess.It is said that after bathing and worshiping in the uninterrupted hot stream of Maa Narmada, auspicious results are obtained from the visit of Rukkad Swami Temple in Khairagarh.
